a guide for shops

write a glove size guide that works.

Glove sizes are numbers or letters that mean different things at every brand, and most people have no idea what theirs is. Ask for two measurements instead and you can tell them.

the measurements

what to ask for

hand circumference

Around the palm at the knuckles, not including the thumb, on the dominant hand.

hand length

From the crease of the wrist to the tip of the middle finger.

getting it right

tips for your guide

  • Measure the hand you write with, as it’s usually slightly bigger
  • Say whether the glove is meant to fit snug, like a work or riding glove, or loose
  • If the material stretches or gives with wear, say so
  • Show both centimetres and inches

between sizes

say which way to go

For gloves that should fit close, like work, cycling or riding gloves, the smaller size is often right. For warm winter gloves, go larger. Tell shoppers which this pair is.

the shortcut

let the page do the maths

Put your chart into Size Finder once. Customers type in their measurements and get a size back, with your between-sizes advice built in. On WooCommerce, one click picks that size on the glove product page.
